If you want to take in a round of golf during your stay at the Couvent – or if golf isn’t top of your list but fine dining is – try Lamalou-les-Bains golf club and/or its restaurant, La Capitelle. Situated just outside Hérépian on the D160 it’s just a few minutes’ drive or a 15 minute walk* from the Couvent.
The golf club is open to non-members and you can hire clubs. To make a reservation visit the club or ring 04 67 95 08 47. (Or ask reception staff at the Couvent to ring for you.)
The restaurant, La Capitelle, is in a stunning location overlooking the golf course with vineyards and hills beyond. The food is well cooked and beautifully presented and service is generally good. They do get rather busy at the weekends – we went on a Friday evening and service was quite slow – so you might prefer to try a quieter evening. Expect to pay 40 or 50 Euro a head for a three course meal with wine.
*If you choose to walk , turn left out of the Couvent and left again keeping the square and the Ocre Rouge on your right, continue to the end of the road, turn right then immediately left into the Avenue St Jacques and then straight on along the little Allée du Rieu Pourque which points to the ‘Jardin Publique’ and the cemetery. After 10 minutes you emerge onto the D160 and you will see the golf club and restaurant a couple of hundred metres further on, on your left.
